Strengthening America’s Manufacturing Workforce: Join the METAL Webinar Series

The U.S. manufacturing workforce is evolving, and the Non-Ferrous Founders’ Society appreciates that the Department of Defense (DoD) is leading the charge to equip it for the future. As part of this effort, the DoD, in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) and Jobs for the Future (JFF), has launched a webinar series. This innovative program, part of the Metallurgical Engineering Trades Apprenticeships & Learning (METAL) initiative, is designed to strengthen the workforce by fostering industry partnerships and advancing new training approaches for the metals and metallurgy sectors.

What's in store?
The METAL Webinar Series offers exclusive insights into effective workforce training models—think apprenticeships, pre-apprenticeships, and work-based learning programs—all tailored for the casting and forging industries. These sessions will provide a roadmap for scaling these training models to meet the needs of America’s industrial base, ensuring our defense sector remains resilient and ready.

The METAL Webinar Series is designed to actively engage industry professionals in aligning workforce development efforts with the evolving needs of the industrial base. By providing a collaborative space, the series enables participants to learn, exchange experiences, and strategize together, helping to build a stronger and more resilient manufacturing workforce.

Why should you attend?
This series is a rare opportunity for NFFS members, industry leaders, stakeholders, and organizations to come together to explore and build on the benefits of work-based learning and apprenticeship models. Not only will participants gain valuable knowledge about cutting-edge training strategies, but they’ll also have a hand in shaping the future of America’s metals and manufacturing workforce.
