NFFS member Metcovery II has reached a significant milestone in the pursuit of a more sustainable foundry industry. The company is officially joining the newly established National Consortium for the Decarbonization of the Metals Industry, a groundbreaking initiative led by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

As one of three national lab-led projects selected to receive funding under the DOE’s $18.6 million Industrial Decarbonization Lab Call, this consortium will play a key role in developing best practices, standards, and tools to accelerate the adoption of low-carbon technologies in the metals industry. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to reduce emissions and improve sustainability across heavy industries, and Metcovery II’s involvement underscores its leadership in advancing environmentally responsible metal production.

This achievement reflects the power of public-private collaboration in tackling the industry’s most pressing challenges. Congratulations to Metcovery II on this well-earned recognition and its continued contributions to the innovation and sustainability of the nonferrous foundry sector!
