In memoriam: Jack Palmer, Michael Schumann

NFFS recently learned of the passing of Jack Palmer, President of Palmer Manufacturing & Supply, and Michael Schumann, former Chairman and CEO of I. Schumann & Company. On behalf of the Society and its membership, we extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and friends. Jack and Michael were both influential leaders in their companies and made lasting contributions to the non-ferrous foundry industry.

Michael was a third-generation leader in the copper alloy industry, deeply committed to the non-ferrous metalcasting sector. He was passionate about advancing the industry, with a career that spanned over four decades of dedication, innovation, and leadership. His contributions helped shape the future of metalcasting, a vital but often unseen part of manufacturing. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues. Jack Palmer headshotJohn "Jack" Palmer passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2024, at the age of 71.  In a social media post, Palmer Manufacturing & Supply wrote, "Jack was recognized globally as a visionary in the foundry industry, known for his dedication to equipment and process innovations that are widely used today. In recent years, Jack had been transitioning leadership roles to his team. The Palmer Team remains deeply inspired by his enduring legacy and is committed to honoring it and carrying it forward."
